The Actun Tunichil Muknal “Cave of the Stone Sepulcher,” or ATM Cave as it is known the Belizean locals, can be found deep in the rainforest of Belize. The ATM Cave Tour is a 45 minute trip to the cave. You cross the Roaring River three times and the return hike follows the same route. This cave offers a unique and amazing experience as it was once used by the ancient Mayans. It contains many skeletons, the most famous of which is the Crystal Maiden, as well as pottery and stone tools. You will learn about the history of this cave and the rituals that took place there. From bloodletting to human sacrifices and other rituals that took place in the cave more than a thousand years ago.
